Pure red Dead or stuck red subpixels show as dark dots. Pure green Dead or stuck green subpixels show as dark dots. Pure blue Dead or stuck blue subpixels show as dark dots. Pure cyan Green and blue together. Checks subpixel convergence. Pure magenta Red and blue together. Checks subpixel convergence. Pure yellow Red and green together. Checks subpixel convergence. Pure black Backlight bleed, IPS glow and haloing. Best in a dark room. Pure white Brightness uniformity, tint shifts and permanent marks. 25% grey Dark-tone uniformity and backlight structure. 50% grey The standard test for dirty screen effect (DSE). 75% grey Light-tone uniformity and overall subpixel balance.

Geometry grid Alignment, geometry and edge distortion, with convergence targets. Checkerboard Contrast and local dimming behaviour across bright and dark blocks. Pixel inversion One-pixel checkerboard. Flicker or a moving pattern means inversion artefacts. Convergence crosshair Centre alignment and corner focus reference. Sharpness One-pixel lines at four spacings. Blur or shimmer means scaling or oversharpening. SMPTE-style bars Colour bars with a PLUGE strip for black-level setup. Motion / response A moving block. Look for trailing, ghosting and overshoot. Stuck pixel exerciser Rapidly cycles colours over the whole screen to work a stuck subpixel loose. This test flashes rapidly. Do not run it if you are sensitive to flashing light.

Greyscale gradient Black to white. Visible steps mean banding or a low panel bit depth. Red gradient Black to full red. Checks red channel smoothness. Green gradient Black to full green. Checks green channel smoothness. Blue gradient Black to full blue. Checks blue channel smoothness. Grey step wedge 32 measured steps. Any two neighbours that look identical are being clipped. Gamma check Blend the patches into their surrounds from a distance to read your gamma.
